Dry Air Is a Serious Problem in the Winter Season

During the winter season, which can obviously be quite harsh in this part of the country, your heater may demand most of your attention. There is no denying just how important it is that you are able to heat your home effectively when the temperature outside plummets, obviously. However, the effect of your heating system on your comfort is only one factor to consider.

Another important one is the quality of the air in your home. There may not be allergens from blooming plants to worry about in the winter season. There is, however, the issue of very dry air to keep in mind. Fortunately, you can keep the problems caused by very dry air at bay with the use of a whole-house humidifier in Celco.

Problems Caused by Very Dry Air

While having dry air in your home may not sound as alarming as very cold air, it is actually a very serious problem. In fact, this single problem can lead to the development of many others. Keep your eyes open for signs of low humidity in your home. They are very easy to spot, and may include any of the following.

  • Dry, itchy skin is one of the most common signs that the air in your home is too dry. During the winter season, as temperatures fall, humidity levels in the air fall naturally as well. Your heater may not dry out the air the way that an AC can, but you are already starting off with a dryer environment than in the summer. That means your skin may get flaky and itchy, or even split and bleed.
  • Sore throats and bloody noses are also common in homes with very dry air. If the air in your house is too dry, your mucous membranes, nasal passage, and throat can dry out, too. This is not only uncomfortable and inconvenient. It can also leave you at increased risk of illness.
  • Splitting wood, chipping paint, and cracking wallpaper may also result from very dry air. Do not allow this problem to take a toll on your property itself. Especially not when the solution to the problem is so easily within reach!
